About Us

Are you wondering what METZI is about? Where they came from? What they are doing? And what they are on track to achieve? If so, keep reading.

In 2002 an idea for a product that would protect the exposed frontal area of a motorcycle from stone chips, paint dents, scratches, scrapes, road debris and insect acid stains began with enthusiasm, determination and the most basic of materials and machinery.

This product would have to look great by matching the colors and graphics of the motorcycle. It would have to fit as snug as possible. It would have to be easy to maintain. It would have to be easy to install and remove plus it would have to be durable enough to handle the extreme conditions of motorcycling for a long period time.

That idea started a company called METZI MOTO SKINZ, with very little capital. Development started, steadily the product and the materials used were being constantly improved. Since then they have been developing this concept to do all the above and are anticipating the release of the MOTO SKINZ in late 2008.

New purpose-built machinery was being purchased to meet the demands of the project and to ensure that the MOTO SKINZ would be totally manufactured in the one location. In February 2005 another simple idea was born during a coffee break. It was going to change the entire structure of the company from a development-based business to a manufacturing operation. This was way more than they had anticipated. The METZI SEAT SKINZ were on the drawing board and after the very first practical attempt, it fitted perfectly and met all the requirements and needs.

Work then begun on developing and commercializing a new innovative seat covering that complimented the style of the motorcycle. The thought behind this project was based on the fact that a seat takes up a large area on the motorcycle. That it is easy to see and is used quite vigorously, not to mention most of them are just plain black, cheap and boring to look at.

The first prototype was made for a Honda CBR 1100XX. It was color coded and removable. Testing the performance of SEAT SKINZ was a real surprise. It was thought that there were going to be some small issues that would have needed to be corrected but there where none. Testing of over 100 SEAT SKINZ returned the exact same positive result and response.

Now that functionality was achieved, it was time to work on the appearance and durability of the SEAT SKINZ. Only the highest quality products were sourced from Australia, Europe and the USA. This was to ensure the product life span and appeal was maximized. They had also adopted the same sewing techniques used by Ferrari Automotive Interiors for that luxurious look, finish and quality.

New methods and parameters for obtaining templates where also created. Different styles were now made possible. The design department was given certain guidelines to follow in order to keep the product uniquely different from potential competitors and to enable the product to be easily recognized among other seats.

Metzi then submitted the SEAT SKINZ to selected companies. This was for the purpose of market research and advertising assessment. To display it on an actual motorcycle, it was exhibited at various trade shows, where ATV’s and personal water craft were also considered. This extend of the market potential includes markets across Europe and USA. The response has been nothing short of overwhelming.

A decision was then made to expand operations and make the SEAT SKINZ available to the general public.

After the first 6 months of production, demand had outgrown their manufacturing facility and they then had to relocate to larger premises. With continuing research and development, an array of new machinery was purchased to cope with the growth and to enable an even higher quality product output. There manufacturing staff was now able to monitor and control every stitch and process of production.

With the new premises came new opportunities to develop better methods of manufacturing, along with avenues for new and existing products to be researched, tested and innovatively improved. The new facility also provided the ability to be able to dispatch the SEAT SKINZ for delivery on a minute to minute basis if required at a much lower cost than before.

The company believes that if a customer has spent any amount of money on its product, they deserve to get more than what they paid. This includes both durability and long term satisfaction. The entire organization is focused on continually creating the best possible products for the motorcycling industry now and into the future. They know to be the best is an enormous task. They also know that to be the best, they must continue to improve, improvise, innovate and create to achieve this.

METZI MOTO SKINZ is not an upholstering or motor trimming company. It is the SEAT SKINZ manufacturer and motorcycle accessory developer.
